I’m a writer. I’ve been writing and publishing professionally for well over three decades, both fiction and nonfiction books, articles, short stories, and novels. I’m also a Master Screenwriter. I’ve been a judge in novel writing contests for a couple decades.
Writing is a way of life. I started in nonfiction and I found nonfiction considerably easier than writing fiction. In nonfiction, if you understand the topic you’re writing about, and if you can put together an organized outline and have good writing skills in general, you can create something that’s really good and that works well for your audience.
Writing fiction is different from nonfiction. With fiction, you have a whole world to create, a whole cast of characters to produce, and you have to imagine what those characters would realistically do given who they are and the situation they’re in. It’s challenging to say the least. That’s why I’ve also been creating books to help fiction authors understand how to write truly page-turner fiction that keeps readers enthralled!

In addition to all that emphasis on nonfiction, I’ve been publishing fiction for more than 20 years under a variety of pen names. These days, I mostly write paranormal cozy mysteries and urban fantasy, under the name Maureen Caudill.
The new cozy paranormal mystery series is The Psychic Case Files of “I’m Not Psychic” Celestina Howell. The first book, THE CASE OF THE WANDERING DEAD GUY, came out in January 2025.
Book 2 in the series is THE CASE OF THE LETHAL LINGERIE. Book 2 will be released in March 2025.
